After your procedure, you will be closely monitored by a nurse in recovery until you are fully recovered. This may take between 1 - 4hrs depending on what procedure you have had. When you have recovered, you will be offered some light refreshments and prepared for your return home.
Patients receiving a local anaesthetic are free to return home post procedure, however you may prefer some refreshment prior to your departure.
On discharge your nurse will provide you and or your carer with written discharge instructions and answer any questions you may have with regards to your procedure an post operative care. In some circumstances you will be offered a Follow-Up Call within 24hrs of discharge to ensure you are proceeding with a safe and speedy recovery.
- It is essential that you arrange for someone to drive you home and remain with you for at least 24hrs post discharge. DO NOT DRIVE FOR 24HRS.
- We recommend that you have someone drive you home if possible
Depending on the type of procedure you have undergone, Colin Street Day Surgery aims to provide patients with a post discharge follow-up call to make sure your recovery is as expected post procedure.
Prior to discharge from the facility, a discharge nurse will ask if you or your carer would like this service. If you would prefer not to be contacted, you will be asked to sign a form to ensure all nursing staff are aware of your request.
